Appeal to stop the forcible deportation of Assan Yaba Assan 6PM tomorrow 6 May.

Assan is threatened with forced deportation tomorrow, 6 May, at 18:00 from Heathrow Airport to Baghdad on a Turkish Airlines flight via Istanbul.

Assan is one of dozens of Kurdish and other Iraqi refugees rounded up in recent weeks, currently held in Colnbrook, Harmondsworth and other detention centre and now scheduled for deportation. The large majority of the flights are with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul.

The flight numbers are TK1972 from Heathrow Terminal 3 to Istanbul, then TK902 from Istanbul to Baghdad.

Assan, an asylum seeker from Mosul, arrived in the UK on 8 Feb 2003. Assan’s English girlfriend asked us to include the following appeal:

“Hi, my name is Annmarie Doksani, partner of Assan Yaba Assan. We have been together since 2010. I don’t want him to be sent back to Mosul because his life is at risk. I am really frightened and also not in a good way, I’m not eating or sleeping, I have lost a lot of weight since he was detained also self-harming, because he’s my everything. I ask from the bottom of my heart to please help me and stop the deportation.

Please call Turkish Airlines on 020 7471 6666 to demand that they do not
deport Assan.
