Happy May Day!
INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF IRAQI REFUGEES (IFIR) WISHES YOU A VERY HAPPY MAY DAY AND SAYS

NO ONE IS ILLEGAL

The Federation believes that the major reason for the displacement of people leading to millions of people becoming refugees and asylum seekers are Governments that drive their countries into war without regard for the welfare, equality and security of people.

We believe the only way to stop problems with migration is by establishing a borderless world where all people live with equal rights in a peaceful and creative environment. We believe that home is the country where one lives and works. We consider that human rights are universal and they can not be limited by factors of geographic territory, gender, culture, religion, race, age or place of birth. Any belief or movement that restricts human rights for reasons of racism, fascism or cultural relative theory, is a reactionary belief and movement that stands against universal human rights.

The Federation is a radical organization that defends human rights and sees itself as a part of the socialist and progressive movement camp; it fights for the rights of Iraqi refugees and refugees from other country, it works to gain solidarity from trade unions, left, progressive organization and refugee’s rights organization worldwide. State persecution of Refugees and asylum seekers is a phenomenon of modern state capitalism. Conditions are worsening for people all over the world.  Refugees are being forced to leave their homes and countries and claim asylum in other countries.

Unfortunately we also have to ask for your support to help us stop the EU’s policy of forcible deportations to Iraq.  Several hundreds of Iraqi-Kurdish refugees have been deported by force from the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark Switzerland, Belgium in recent Years. Iraqi refugees are detained in several EU countries and the UK.  They have been separated from their friends and families (many have partners and children here); they are arrested, handcuffed and put on special charter flights that carry them to northern Iraq and Baghdad, where they are received by KRG & Iraqi security forces. Many of them have since committed suicide, been kidnapped or killed in car bombs. Others have gone into hiding or changed their names to avoid persecution.

The Kurdistan Regional Government, and Iraqi Government is trading on Iraq & Kurdish refugees for financial gains, is complicit in these tragedies and should stop 'cooperating' with European countries against its own people.

Defend Iraqi & Kurdish Refugees!

IFIR struggles to defend the rights of Iraqi and Kurdish Refugees. IFIR believes refugees are part of the worker class in the world. On May Day we call for the working class to support the right of migrant workers and refugees rights, calling for an end to the criminalising and persecution of refugees.

Please support the following demands:

1. An immediate end to the policy of enforced deportation of Kurdish and Iraqi refugees by all European countries.

2. Require all European governments to recognise that previous agreements, between the Iraqi and Kurdish government and European countries regarding the deportation of refugees, as invalid because their safety simply cannot be guaranteed.

3. Require the release of all Iraqi refugees from prisons and detention centres, who have been detained because of illegal entry or their leave to remain, has expired.

4. Demand that Kurdish and Iraqi refugees, be allowed to work to support themselves and have the right to family reunion.

5. Those refugees who are disabled, ill, or destitute and cannot work should be treated with compassion.

6. Refugees who are destitute in countries outside Europe should be supported with health services and education or transferred to a European country.
