Join<\/b> us to put an end to this horrific situation!<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

The refugee\u00a0crisis\u00a0on the Poland-Belarus border has reached alarming proportions. Thousands of\u00a0refugees and immigrants\u00a0are\u00a0stranded on the border face sub-zero temperatures, with no access to food, water, adequate sanitation, or shelter. Among them are children, mothers, and the sick.\u00a0Seven of them have perished as a result of malnutrition or hyperthermia thus far.\u00a0 Over the last week, thousands of refugees have been barred from crossing the Polish border.<\/span><\/h3>\n

<\/span><\/h3>\n

We urge all freedom-loving,\u00a0human-rights\u00a0and refugee\u00a0organisations to write to their MPs and the European Union demanding that they protect the lives of these destitute people who, through no fault of their own, have become a political tool between Belarus and the European Union.<\/span><\/h3>\n

We call on trade unions and workers’ organisations across Europe to exert pressure on their governments to do the following:<\/span><\/h3>\n

  1. \n

    To put an end to the detention, beatings, and\u00a0agony of refugees at the border, and to act fast to save them from death.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    For the UNHCR to promptly and favourably reply to refugees’ asylum claims.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n

    To end the use of force and intimidation against refugees in detention, and to free those who are currently confined in Lithuanian and Polish jails. Their claims for asylum must be responded to right away.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n

    To grant migrants instant asylum and\u00a0disperse them\u00a0around\u00a0European countries, allowing them to\u00a0rebuild\u00a0their lives in a peaceful and harmonious environment.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
