The proposed bill to amend the Iraqi Personal Status law, which received its initial reading on August 4, in the Iraqi parliament, would legalize the marriage of nine-year-old girls, out-of-court marriage and formal polygamy. This bill is a blatant violation of the rights, freedoms and human dignity of women and girls and makes them slaves and sexual products of men.\u00a0It’s a systematic and deliberate crime committed by the government against the women and girls in Iraq and Kurdistan!<\/span><\/h3>\n
