22 November 2021 IFIR calls on the immediate release of Zhian Ali
Today on the 22nd November 2021, according to the information by NRT News Kurdish journalist Zhian Ali went to Belarus Minsk Airport and has been arrested for going there to show the people the truth behind the current situation and the brutal handling of the refugees in the region.
The arrest of Zhian contradicts the universal right to freedom of expression which should be allowed to be exercised freely.
IFIR strongly condemns the arrest of Zhian Ali as it is against freedom of journalism rights and urges the Belarus government to set her free.
We call on all human-right organisations to put pressure on the government in Belarus to release her immediately as they have a responsibility on her safety.
