Hi friends,
We’re reaching out because we need your help.
IFIR is a grassroots network fighting for the rights and dignity of refugees especially Kurdish and Iraqi
asylum seekers. We’ve been on the frontlines for many years, standing up to deportations, racism, and
hostile immigration systems that treat people like problems instead of human beings.
We believe home is where you live, love, and contribute, not what’s written in your passport. Refugees
are people just like us they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
We’re not just defending rights we are organising, building solidarity, and pushing for a world without
borders, where justice comes first.
What we do to achieve this:
• Support refugees facing detention or deportation
• Oppose racism, fascism, and discrimination
• Defend the rights of women and children in migration
• Help refugees build collective power
• Link with trade unions and justice movements worldwide
• Provide emergency support in both detention centres and unsafe housing
• Work across the world focussing on Europe, Canada, Turkey, and the Kurdistan
• Run grassroots campaigns against racist immigration policies
• We were among the first to campaign against the UK Government’s Rwanda deportation plan
standing with threatened refugees until the last person was released
• We have also successfully stopped deportation flights to Iraq
2
• Exposed abuse in immigration prisons and hostels
• Organise legal support and protests.
Real Stories. Real Impact
Case Study 1: Rebuilding After Trauma – A Refugee Mother’s Story
“I arrived in the UK with my husband and two children after a horrific journey. A smuggler lied to us and
forced us onto a small boat. Before boarding, gasoline spilled on me I was soaked, freezing, and pregnant.
When we reached the UK, I was seriously burned. At the hospital, a doctor gave us IFIR’s number. They
came immediately with food, clothes, and compassion. They listened, supported our mental health, and
helped us begin to heal.
Today, I carry scars but also hope. IFIR treated us with dignity when no one else did.”
Case Study 2: ‘They Wanted Me Dead. The Federation Helped Me Live.’
“I’m a young Iraqi woman who protested against corruption and for women’s rights. My family called it
shame and tried to kill me. I fled and lived in hiding for nearly two years, hunted across borders.
Eventually, I reached a neighbouring country and was connected to IFIR. They took immediate steps to
protect me relocating me, keeping my identity secure, and providing legal and emotional support.
Because of IFIR, I am alive, free, and rebuilding my life.”
We receive no government funding. Every action we take is powered by people like you.
Every donation supports legal aid, emergency response, and advocacy. We can’t do it without your
