ON 15 Sep 2015 at the request of the German Consulate in Erbil, representatives from IFIR visited their office. The representatives consisted of Dashty Jamal – The IFIR Secretary, Amanj Abdulah – IFIR, Kurdistan Reigon representative and Ari Jalal -Sulaimaniya Branch representative. At their meeting, The IFIR team met with The General Consulate of Federal Republic of Germany Mr Mark Eichhorn, Eike Hendrik Krebs Consul (Political and Humanitarian affairs), Ihsan Walzi advisor for Political affairs and Public Relations, and Aras Karim – Assistant Desk officer for political affairs and Humanitarian Aid..
On 08 Sep 2015 the Kurdistan branch of the International federations of Iraqi Refugees IFIR organized a press conference at Rand Gallery for IFIR secretary Dashty Jamal.
In respect for the lives of the refugees who lost their lives in the recent tragedies, Ari Jala representing the Sulaimaniya branch secretary commenced the conference with one minute silence. Following this Dashty Jamal highlighted the reasons and the factors that have caused mass migration to Europe. Dashty suggested possible ways out of the crisis and highlighted the IFIR obligations and contributions.

The death of refugees on the borders of Europe and in the Mediterranean Sea is a tragedy. That is a direct consequence of the policy of closing the borders to people whose livelihoods and place of residence has been turned into a battlefield of civil war, unrest and insecurity.
The International Federation of Iraqi Refugees is in urgent need of funds to continue our work.
In the last five years IFIR members who have been deported to Iraq have started to organize there, and have forced the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi governments to commit to refuse to accept any people forcibly deported back to the region.

The tragedy of the refugees’ death in group on the borders of Europe and Mediterranean Sea is a direct consequence of the policy of closing the borders to people whose livelihoods and place of residence turned to battlefield, civil war, unrest and insecurity.
German authorities are bracing for a record-breaking number of refugees, with mass arrivals potentially continuing for “several years.” Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere has urged EU partners to do more to help.
