The proposed bill to amend the Iraqi Personal Status law, which received its initial reading on August 4, in the Iraqi parliament, would legalize the marriage of nine-year-old girls, out-of-court marriage and formal polygamy. This bill is a blatant violation of the rights, freedoms and human dignity of women and girls and makes them slaves and sexual products of men. It’s a systematic and deliberate crime committed by the government against the women and girls in Iraq and Kurdistan!

Racism is a shameful phenomenon alien to the contemporary world and British society!
A message from Dashty Jamal to refugees and freedom loving people.
Due to the right-wing riots and attacks against foreigners and immigrants that have been happening in several northern British cities and Belfast for over a week, there have been many horrifying incidents, including the burning of shops and mosques, attacks on hotels, hostels, and refugee shelters, as well as vandalism and breaking windows of homes, leaving people without safe place in our country just because of their ethnicity or skin colour.
These racist acts of violence against non-English people and immigrants are the direct result of the propaganda of right-wing and racist groups aimed at undermining and reversing all the achievements of the British working class and civilized people. They are trying to divide the people of this society based on their nationality and their geographical background. We must not allow British tolerance and civilisation to descend into fanaticism and discrimination، which is a central aspect of this racism programme.
These violence and racist actions against non-English people and refugees are the direct result of the propaganda of right-wing groups that aim to attack and reverse all the achievements of the British working class and civilized people. They sow the seeds of division and hostility among the people of this society and divided them based on nationality, skin colour and geographical background. We must not allow Britain’s tolerant and civilized society to be led into tension and discrimination, which is a key cornerstone of the racist’s programme.
The riots followed an attack by a teenager at a children’s dance school in Southport that killed and injured several children. This crime against humanity is reprehensible and a shocking to everyone’s conscience. We offer our deepest condolences to the families of these children and wish the rest a speedy recovery. We join them in this tragic tragedy.
Unfortunately, right-wing groups and mindless racism have hijacked this situation and are using it to spread hate, animosity towards other cultures, and anti-foreign sentiment to blame refugees for the crime, political and housing crisis, unemployment, and high prices that has gripped society rather than blame it on the company owners and capitalists.
Refugees are forced to flee and become refugees in a situation where they pay the price of the struggle between the imperialist blocs to redistribute the spheres of influence and the markets of goods and capital. Refugees are the victims of the global goal and strategy that the world’s great powers have once again made war and displacement part of the societies of those refugees who have been deprived of the right to a peaceful and secure life toreshape the world and to reshape the economic and political forms of the capitalist world.
We as the International Federation of Refugees call on refugees, freedom loving people, anti-racists, anti-fascists and humanitarian organisations to unite and speak out against racism and discrimination that is incompatible with both human nature and civilised society. Let us not respond to violence with violence and let’s unite as a humanitarian front against racism and fascism. The police and security agencies have responsibility to protect our safety and lives against any violation of our lives. We must all be equal before the law. Let us work together to ensure a future free from violence, injustice, inequality. Everyone in Britain deserves to live in freedom, peace, and safety.

The Turkish government has launched a large ground offensive in Iraqi Kurdistan and border areas with thousands of soldiers, tanks, and armoured vehicles under the guise of protecting the borders and fighting the PKK. They have also burnt the citizens’ gardens and residences. They have even reached the city of Duhok, endangering the lives and security of the residents. In addition, some civilians have been killed or injured in the past as a result of Turkey’s ongoing attacks.
This invasion and militarization of the Erdogan government is part of a regional conflict in which Turkey seeks to establish a foothold in the region, particularly to influence the political, economic, and security future. Turkey seeks to achieve this aim by military dominance in the Kurdistan Region and northern Syria. In doing so, he wants to respond to Turkey’s internal crisis, where Erdogan’s government is now more than ever facing the fury of Turkey’s working-class, hard-working,and liberal people.
The Turkish government’s aggression against Iraqi Kurdistan has been fuelled by the UN’s silence on the one hand, and the approval of the US, Iraqi, and Kurdish governments on the other.
The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) fighters inside the Kurdistan Region are, of course, Turkey’s justification for its invasion of Iraqi Kurdistan; nevertheless, this is merely a pretext for Turkey’s massive push to seize land in Iraq and exert influence over the Iraqi government. Specifically, with China’s assistance and collaboration, the “Development Road” project—a strategically important undertaking connecting Turkey to the Gulf—will cross across Iraqi territory. Turkey, Iraq, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates together invest billions of dollars in this project.
We at the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees strongly condemn this attack and invasion of the Turkish government against the Kurdish people, and call on the United Nations, all human rights organizations, trade unions and freedom fighters to play their rightful role and put pressure on the Turkish state that:

Immediately stop the military invasion and shelling of villages and border areas.

All Turkish forces must immediately withdraw from Iraqi Kurdistan to allow the people of the villages can return to their homes.

Statement by the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees on World Refugee Day.
We can lead a massive humanitarian movement against war, militarism, criminality, and racism while also ensuring a peaceful future for all.
June 20 is the World Refugees Day of, which has been officially recognised by the United Nations since 1951 with the contents and principles of the resolution.
Some countries’ coast guards sink refugee boats, restrict and close borders and islands, hold refugees in camps and captivity beneath tents and plastic huts, and pass legislation to relocate refugees to remote islands. They are stationed in military stations and ships, and they are even punished as criminals. There exist agreements with authoritarian governments to forcibly deport migrants, to incite bigotry, discrimination, and insults against refugees, and to blame them for everything terrible that happens in these countries. These have pushed the boundaries of hypocrisy and immorality in Western countries that are supposed to be democratic and human rights oriented. Even the United Nations and international law are no longer legitimate when member states’ interests are at stake.
This year’s World Refugee Day is being observed in a context where conflict, genocide, destruction, displacement, and homelessness have endangered the lives of hundreds of millions of people. Racism, fascism, nationalism, and political repression have become hallmarks of bourgeois governments and organisations over the world.
Tens of millions of people have been forced to leave their homes and live in exile within their own countries, or to go to the West in search of security and a decent living, because of state and bourgeois disputes and wars.
The Western bourgeoisie and its states, which call for human rights and democracy, are responsible for the world’s instability and destruction, which has resulted in displacement and refugees in conflict zones.
They are using the economic crisis in their capitalist system to impose additional burdens on working people, such as poverty, unemployment, hunger, and the cutback of public and social services, under the pretext of refugee pressure and in order to mislead the deprived masses of their countries and turn their protests against the bourgeoisie and the authorities, as well as promote opposition and condemnation of refugees as the source of these miseries among the people! The Western bourgeoisie actively encourages racism and anti-asylum!
Thus, people who have suffered from years of war, bloodshed, militarism, and persecution at the hands of bourgeois states, including the imperialist powers of the United States, European countries, and Russia, are also the sources of unemployment, criminality, and unrest!
As a result, the fight for the right to live, choice of residence, and enjoyment of peaceful conditions for all people who have fled persecution, conflict, and hunger has become a legitimate struggle and the responsibility of every freedom fighter and humanitarian around the world.
On World Refugee Day, the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees (IFIR) announces its solidarity with the world’s civilised and freedom-loving people in their efforts to put an end to war, militarism, genocide, repression, crime, and human calamities, regardless of ethnicity or religion.
At the same time, it is in the forefront of all attempts to recognise the right to residency as a fundamental human right, as well as to protect the right of asylum for all those who abandon their homes in search of a quiet and dignified existence.
No to war.
No to the deportation of refugees.
No to racism and conservatism.

14 June Amnesty International Vigil calling for a Safe Route for refugees at the Greek Embassy London!
Amnesty called a vigil to mark the tragic sinking of the Adriana boat which sank close to the Greek island Pylos. 750 plus refugees were aboard the boat tragically only 104 were rescued and a further 82 bodies were found. Many children and women were amongst those who died. This is due to the fact that mothers hold onto their children as the boat sank meaning it was a lot harder for them to save themselves.
The Federation attended the vigil alongside activists from The International Iranian Organisation, Stand up Against Racism, the Jewish Socialist group and other refugee rights groups.
Ulrike Schmidt Amnesty European coordinator spoke at the vigil she informed us that Amnesty had organised similar vigils across Europe including, Athens Greece, Turkey, Denmark, France.
Dashty Jamal from International Federation of Iraqi Refugees spoke about the recent history of Iraq and the Middle East that led to refugees fleeing from war and insecurity. Which had been caused by the intervention of America and Western countries. The International Federation of Iraqi Refugees, the International Organisation of Iranian Refugees and the Labour Campaign for Free Movement are calling for this demonstration today to protest against the plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. We are joined today by the families and children of the asylum seekers and others in Iraqi, Kurdish, Iranian, Afghani and other communities, MPs and human rights organizations.
The UK government is violently rounding up refugees to be deported to the unsafe country of Rwanda. It is trying to ban the act of seeking refuge. It is unacceptable that the UK Government has made an agreement with the Rwanda Government and is playing with the lives of these refugees. The UKBA are clearly seeking to legitimize this deportation by an agreement with the Rwandan Government.
We call on you to respect the rights of all refugees, and not play with their future at a time when many refugees are fleeing from countries plagued by war and violence. The UK must not put the lives of these people at risk.
The tragedy of refugees on the borders of Europe and Mediterranean Sea is a direct consequence of closing borders to people whose livelihoods and place of residence have turned to battlefield, civil war, unrest and insecurity.
The issue of refugees and mass migration is the product of the system, crisis, and policies of war and genocide that the capitalists and their states follow and as a result thousands of people have been displaced. Iraqi, Kurdish, Iranian, Afghan, Ukrainian, Palestinian, and North African refugees are all victims of this system, which has left no one secure while hundreds of millions of people face starvation, poverty, unemployment, insecurity, high costs, climate change, and displacement. They endanger themselves, and their children to escape the brutality of the system.
The crisis facing refugees places a tremendous responsibility upon European governments. Whilst the UK and Europe are talking about human rights, they have provided no realistic solution to offer safe and legal alternatives to the wave of refugees making the perilous journey to seek safety in Europe. European countries ignore the fact that they are one of the main reasons for the catastrophes leading to the exodus of refugees from the Middle East. The majority of the refugees are victims of direct political and military involvement of the US and European countries. It is due to their support of inhuman and repressive systems in the Middle East which are covered with the dress of democracy. They are however nothing more than nationalist, Islamist, and murderous groups. The system that is run by these groups are taking no responsibilities towards the livelihoods of their citizens, and in reality, they have turned society into a hell of confrontations and conflicts between different religious, nationalist and Islamic groups. The reality is that they have turned the society politically and economically into an insecure and unsafe society and have left no chance for a decent living for their citizens.
We are a radical assembly that defends human rights and sees itself as a part of a progressive movement; it fights for the rights of refugees across the world, it works to gain solidarity from human rights organisations worldwide. As part of our responsibility we – International Federation of Iraqi Refugees (IFIR), the International Organisation of Iranian Refugees and the Labour Campaign for Free Movement– are sending you this letter, asking you to treat refugees in a responsible manner, and not to act in a way that ignores humanitarian considerations. We strongly condemn this forced deportation by the UKBA to Rwanda.

Dear Members of the Stop Rwanda Campaign,
On behalf of PCS branches based at 2 Marsham Street – Home Office HQ, Efra London and South-East, and DLUHC HQ National Branch – we are writing to express our complete solidarity and support for the Stop Rwanda Campaign, particularly in your efforts to halt deportation flights to Rwanda.
As civil servants, we have a duty to act according to the Nolan Principles of public life, and the Civil Service Code values of honesty, integrity, impartiality, and objectivity. We are concerned that the Rwanda scheme breaks these values, sending refugees to a country where there are concerning report of human rights abuses, including arbitrary detention, torture, and suppression of political dissent. Furthermore, we are concerned by efforts to force civil servants to fulfil policy that undermines a ruling of the UK’s own Supreme Court and our international obligations. The Supreme Court ruled in November 2023 that the Court of Appeal’s judgement that the Government’s Rwanda Policy was unlawful. As trade unions, we stand in solidarity with those fleeing violence and persecution and stand firm on the importance of Rule of Law and compliance with international legal rules, such as non-refoulement.
The Stop Rwanda Campaign aligns with core trade union values to defend the rights of all individuals, regardless of their nationality or immigration status. We believe that no one should be forcibly returned to a country where their safety and freedom are at risk.
Last year, PCS, the Care4Calais the refugee charity, Detention Action campaign group, and eight refugees launched a judicial review to challenge the policy to deport refugees to Rwanda without allowing due consideration of their asylum claims.
We join your calls for an immediate end to deportation flights to Rwanda and urge the Government to reassess its policies regarding asylum seekers and refugees from Rwanda. It is imperative that the Government upholds its obligations under international law to protect individuals fleeing persecution and ensure that their asylum claims are properly and fairly assessed.
We would like to take this opportunity to highlight the anger and stress this policy is causing our colleagues in the Home Office, who are being directed to work on this cruel and potentially unlawful policy. Our members are proud public servants, they did not join the Civil Service to engage in cruelty towards others.
As trade unionists, we put people before profiteering from misery. Those being forcibly exported to Rwanda are not just a statistic, they are our fellow human beings. Safe and legal routes are the answer as migration is not a crime.
