Today, Monday 19th December 2022, the High Court has ruled that the UK Government’s plan to send some asylum seekers to Rwanda is lawful and does not contravene the refugees’ human rights. The High Court has ruled against refugee rights activists (including Care for Calais, Movement for Justice, Detention Action, IFIR, and the civil servants’ union PCS) who challenged the government’s policy of deporting refugees to Rwanda. The International Federation of Iraqi Refugees (IFIR) strongly condemns the High Court decision to allow the UK Government to send refugees to Rwanda.

Ms. Shilan Hama Nuri, a women’s rights activist, stated on Kurdsat News that polygamy is a form of prostitution.
The Union of Islamic Religious Scholars (UIRS) said in a statement on Tuesday that the Suleimani branch of their union has filed a lawsuit against Ms. Shilan.

At the request of the International Federation of Iraqi Refugees(IFIR), and to further draw support and solidarity for the ongoing Iranian uprising, a meeting was held at the British Parliament.
The meeting was organised by the office of John Mcdonnell MP, who is a prominent well-known figure on the left of the Labour party. IFIR publicized the meeting and invited speakers for the meeting.

Kurdish Refugee after 22 years living with children is forcibly being deported to Baghdad
Today, Mr Cardow Hussan Ali from Harmondsworth detention Centre contacted IFIR. Said ‘I am in a van with a security guard and I have been given a deportation order for today to go by Turkish Air lines at 13.35 and I am being forcibly deported to Baghdad Airport.
Mr Osman Mohammed Faraj told IFIR that he had been taken from Harmondsworth detention centre in handcuffs to Heathrow airport and placed aboard a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.
Mr Faraj complained about pains in his Kidney as he was placed on the plane. The security guards however, ignored him and bound leather straps around his body. Mr Faraj screamed in pain and called for help in Turkish. As a result he was removed from the plane and returned to the detention centre.

The United Nations has designated June 20 as the World Refugee Day since 1951. We are approaching World Refugee Day this year at a time when human society is going through a dangerous and difficult era. The world is in a state of turmoil. Economic and financial crises, war, militarism, terrorism, racism, the rise of nationalism, religious fanaticism, repression, tyranny, discrimination, destruction, unemployment, poverty, and homelessness have driven a substantial portion of the world’s population to migrate and seek safe refuge. Imperialist states and forces are engaged in a fierce battle to re-divide the world and expand their domains of influence, fictitious profits, and capital accumulation. They are prepared to cause huge tragedies to humanity and subject the planet to nuclear and biological warfare to achieve their goal.

IFIR demonstrated with other refugee rights organisations outside the Rwandan High Commission against the Rwandan government’s shameful deal to accept deportations from the UK. The deportation flight to Rwanda scheduled for 14th June must be stopped.
